What are the honors institute like? I've been to the international and regional conferences, but I will be attending the honors institute in Virginia in the summer? Are they similar to the international/regional conferences?

Do you know what colleges offer full (or close to full) scholarships for PTK members/officers for transfer?

So what are regional conferences like? I'm the new vice president of scholarship for my school and will be attending the regional conference in August. I've never been to a PTK conference before. What usually happens? =)

Finally inducted into Phi Theta Kappa!  :)

I'm new to this community.  I joined a while ago, but waited until it was official before posting.

My story:  I'm very excited and proud of this because I was a high school drop-out and had my son when I was 18.  I just went back to school last Fall, and I'm 33 years old.  My kids are 14 and 8 now.  I also work 32 hours a week.  So for me, this is pretty exciting stuff.  I can finally make my parents (but more importantly myself) proud.  :)

That's the PCC logo in my user icon.

Anyone else around here from Portland, Oregon?

Who's going to be there next week? :D I'll be arriving on Tuesday and I'm so excited to be there to represent my region and chapter! What are you looking forward to the most?

Hi everyone! My name is Dana and I am writing a paper on why community colleges are good for the community. I have a few questions to ask. Both current and former community college students are invited to answer. You can either post back here or e-mail me at dtamsbary@gmail.com. Thanks in advanced!

1. What is your name (first and last, please)?
1. What community college did you attend?
2. Were your classes small? How big was your largest class?
3. Did you feel that your professors were accessible? Were they willing to help you if you were having difficulty?
4. Did you feel prepared when you entered a four-year college or university? What our-year college or university did you attend after community college?
5. Do you think community colleges are good for the community?
6. Did you feel that the professors that taught you at community college were qualified?
7. What was your initial reason for attending community college?

Out of curiosity, did anyone submit for Nota Bene? I had a paper that I'd intended on submitting all along, but there was no way I could hack it down to 2,500 words or less. (I had no idea the word limit was so low!) My advisor said he couldn't stand to see the paper "abused" anymore, so there went that idea. :) Oh well!

By the way, congrats and best wishes to everyone who applied for Guistwhite and All-USA. Be sure to let us know how it goes.

Greetings everyone! My name is Sascha and as of November 19, 2006 I'm a new member of Phi Theta Kappa! I'm quite excited. I'm from Allentown PA and attended Lehigh Carbon Community College. I had no idea that this organization existed until I got the letter offering membership. I'm 33 and going to college for the first time. I'm a secondary education major. I intend to teach high school English at an inner city school. I was maintaining a high GPA for my own intrinsic value, but it's certainly nice to be recognized.

I look forward to being a member of this community.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am being inducted into Phi Theta Kappa on November 18 at Community College of Philadelphia. I am very excited about it. I am 40 years old and have received my Bachelors from Rutgers in 1990. I went back to school to receive my Paralegal degree.
